Chapter 11
Chapter 11:.
So, she was sure he was pleased with her. Dolores furrowed her eyebrows and speculated: did he find someone more suitable for the job?
At such a thought, Dolores felt that the circumstances were somehow more acceptable.
Evening.
As soon as Matthew arrived home, he immediately locked himself in his room. It seemed he still had work to attend to.
Dolores had heard from Coral about Matthew’s food preferences in the evening, and set about preparing dinner for him herself.
Coral smiled, “This is what a wife should do for her husband.”
Dolores sketched a smile as she lowered her head. If it wasn’t because she was at his mercy, she wouldn’t flatter him of her own free will.
Coral let out a sigh, “The lady passed away long ago and the master has since remarried. The Young Master rarely returns home, but underneath his cold facade, he is actually someone how treasures relationship with others.”

Dolores listened to her attentively without interrupting.
“Miss White used to save Young Master when he was still a child, and later she has been following him around. Young Master has never liked her, but somehow his attitude toward her has taken a turn for the better after that business trip last time. However, you have nothing to worry about. You’re still his wife anyway.” Coral patted her shoulders in an attempt to comfort her.
Dolores sketched a smile, for she knew very well that she had no say in who she wanted to be in a relationship with. After all, it was her own life.
Even though they were husband and wife in name, somehow it never felt that way. They were rather strangers.
She knew all too well the true meaning of their marriage.
Dolores cast a furtive glance around the study room and remembered the black coffee Helen had prepared in the morning. She asked Coral, “Coral, do you know where the coffee beans are? I want to boil some coffee for you.”
Coral thought Dolores was very thoughtful, so she held out the coffee beans and handed them to her, while giving her some advice,
“Don’t put any sugar or milk in it. The Young Master doesn’t like sweet things.”
Dolores nodded and before long a freshly brewed coffee was born. She poured some into a delicate coffee cup and carried it herself to the study room.
In the study room, Matthew sounded impatient on the phone, “What about the human resources department, is it so hard to get a good translator?”
He knew several languages, but not the one Country A spoke because it wasn’t widely spoken. Besides, he was managing a new project in that country, so not knowing the language was going to cause him a lot of problems, since he had to personally take care of everything.
“Let the human resources manager know, I only give him one day. If he can’t hire anyone in one day, ask him to prepare to get lost.”
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Matthew was still fuming with rage when he was interrupted by that knocking. He knocked coldly without keeping his emotions under control, “Come in!”.
Dolores suddenly felt her gut clench – was he angry for some reason?
However, since he had already announced his arrival, she had no choice but to enter even though he was in no mood to receive any guests.
Dolores put on her broadest smile as she announced the reason for her arrival, “I’ve prepared coffee for you.”
Matthew pinned his gaze to her face before slowly diverting it to the cup of coffee in his hands. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. Just in the morning, she was avoiding him like the plague, but now she was sending a cup of coffee for him?
This woman was truly capricious!
Matthew returned his phone to its original place and sat down. He watched her closely to find out what this woman was up to at the moment!
“I hope it’s to your liking.” Dolores placed the coffee on his desk.
Matthew continued to sit motionless. His body gradually relaxed and he finally leaned back lazily against his chair.
Dolores prompted, “Try it?”
Matthew raised his eyebrows and suddenly realized. He could guess the reason for her transformation when she said teasingly, “Are you flattering me now because you want to ask about that land in Repulse Bay?”
Dolores froze briefly in disbelief. She didn’t think he would be able to make the connection so soon.
Suddenly, Matthew grabbed Dolores’ chin and said menacingly, “Is this the reason the Flores Family insists on letting you marry me even though I’m a cripple?”
He exerted a lot of force on his fingers, which made Dolores feel an excruciating pain besieging her chin.
She opened her mouth, apparently trying to explain herself.
However, no words of explanation could come out at that moment.
Should she tell him that she had actually been abandoned by her family?
Would he believe her?
“I’m not…”
“Get out!” Matthew threw her away.
Dolores lost her balance and her arm accidentally fell on the coffee cup. Black liquid spilled out of the cup and seeped onto the sheets of papers on her desk. Matthew’s face darkened completely at this sight.
Dolores did not foresee such a turn of events as she frantically tried to dry the coffee.
Matthew turned away from those sheets and bellowed, “I’m asking you to leave; didn’t you hear me?”
He was repulsed by her sucking up to him.
Dolores could only leave.
“Wait, take this too!” said Matthew with annoyance.
Dolores obediently carried the cup out of the room.
After dinner, Matthew returned to his room after finishing his meal.
Dolores let out a sigh of helplessness. This man really had a nasty temper. It was quite a challenge to approach him, let alone capture the rights to that piece of land and regain Randolph’s position of authority.
Dolores took a bath and then lay down on the bed. She tossed and turned from time to time, unable to fall asleep. She decided to get out of bed for now.
Thinking about what had happened in the afternoon, when she had accidentally spilled coffee on his papers, she felt a little sorry for him.
She wanted to make up for it, so she tiptoed to her study room.
He turned on the lights in the room and saw that those wet sheets were still on the table. The documents were written in the language Country A used.
Some of the ink on the sheets, which had been interfered with by the coffee, had faded, making that part unrecognizable.
She took some new papers and copied the information from the documents. Dolores knew the language used by Country A well, although it was not widely used. This was her way of apologizing to him. She translated the words into his familiar language so he could understand the information.
She methodically translated the contents of more than ten sheets of documents. By the time she finished, it was almost dawn.
She put down the pen as she massaged her sore wrists. After making sure the papers were in order, he placed them neatly on his desk before returning to his room to get some sleep.
When Matthew was eating breakfast the next morning, Dolores was still sound asleep. She had slept in late the night before. Coupled with her pregnancy, which caused her sleep time to increase, she didn’t wake up early today.
Matthew frowned, “Still not up yet?”.
Coral looked down, “Yes. You’re husband and wife, so you shouldn’t be asking me that.”noveldrama
Matthew understood perfectly what Coral meant.
“Forget it.” However, Matthew was never one to explain himself clearly, and this attitude applied to Coral, who had practically taken care of him since he was young.
“Young Master, I know you have no feelings for Miss Flores, but your marriage was still blessed by the lady when she was still alive. Besides, I see that she is a caring person. She asked me about your favorite food and prepared those dishes for you last night. She even boiled some coffee for you.”
The reason Dolores was flattering him was just to get that piece of land in Repulse Bay for the Flores Family. Nothing else.
Did she really care about him? Matthew was amused by this thought.
He turned and glared at Coral, “Don’t be fooled by her looks.”
