Within seconds, Hayden stood upright and looked up. When his eyes caught sight of the man’s distant face, he absently turned his head to the side and cursed. Was N-Town so small? Why was it that whenever he took the elevator he always ran into Joseph Beckham like that?

Michelle asked, “Are you okay? Hayden.”

Hayden clenched his fists. Ever since they had entered the elevator, Michelle had been bragging and teasing her, it would be a bigger annoyance if she knew she didn’t have a boyfriend. But what bothered her most was that the man she was meeting for the third time was obviously watching the fun!

She was nervous. She seemed to be tongue-tied and stammered.

That woman was the same as she was five years ago! Joseph’s gaze turned somber. He never liked the insecure feeling of not being able to take control of something. But the woman in front of him was capable of making him lose control over and over again.

“Didn’t you get too close to me in the elevator that day – didn’t you say you didn’t do it on purpose?”
