Nora

Chapter 55

Chapter 55:

Sheril majored in traditional medicine and pharmacology in college. Sheena had carefully trained and prepared her all this time so that she could take over Harmonia Pharmacy in the future.

Therefore, she knew something about medicines.

She picked up the dark-colored pill and sniffed it carefully. A fresh, invigorating aura assaulted his senses, instantly clearing and revitalizing the mind.

It felt as comfortable as breathing deeply in the mountains.

Sheril’s pretty face grew serious and she stared at the pill, studying it intently.noveldrama

A look of doubt appeared on Melissa’s soft, gentle countenance. “What’s wrong?”

Sheril shook her head. Then she asked hesitantly, “Can I keep this, Grandma? I’d like to take it with me so I can study it and verify something.”

Mrs. Anderson nodded. “Sure, take one.”

As if she had just found a treasure, Sheril carefully stuffed the pill into a bag, went downstairs and headed for the lab.

Seeing her leave in panic, Sheena and Simon, who were discussing countermeasures in the living room, were taken aback.

Sheena frowned. “I’ll go up and take a look.”

As Nora drove home, her cell phone rang: it was an unknown number. Just as she hung up, an angry voice came to her from the other end of the call. “Nora, where is the money, haven’t you already transferred it to my bank account? Why did you tell me there was no money in the account when I went to the bank to transfer the funds today? Damn you daughter! Now that you’re clinging to the Andersons, are we too poor for your liking? Are you thinking of abandoning us so you can enjoy life there? Dream on.”

The smile on Nora’s lips was wild and arrogant. “Dad, there’s something I want to ask you.”

“What, I’m warning you, stop wasting time and transfer the money now…”

Nora looked straight ahead with her fingers resting gently on the steering wheel. She had long since stopped feeling sad for people like him. She asked calmly, “Was my mother blind when she married you?”

“?”

Before he could recover, Nora had already hung up.

The only reason she had put up with him all these years was that she feared he would mistreat her son. Now, at last, she got her frustrations out.

Suddenly, her cell phone rang again. Nora took a quick glance at it: the caller ID was still a string of numbers. She answered the call, but before the other party could speak, she said sarcastically, “Why are you calling me again? Are you dying? Are you trying to ask me to handle your funeral?”

“…”

Hearing the silence on the other end, he scoffed coldly. She was about to hang up when Justin’s deep, deep voice rang out. He asked, “Miss Smith, are you planning to take care of my funeral?”

At the hospital, the corners of Justin’s lips curved upward.

Normally, other than one’s children, only one’s spouse would handle one’s funeral affairs.

How intense she is. Even her confession involved promises of life and death.

Nora, “????”

Only then did she realize she had insulted the wrong person. The string of unknown numbers was Justin’s phone number. Too lazy to explain, she asked, “Is something wrong, Mr. Hunt?”

The voice on the phone was deep and pleasant, and echoed in the car through the speaker. He said, “I remember you mentioning that you wanted me to track someone down for you after you cured my grandmother.”

“That’s no longer necessary,” Nora replied coolly. However, a thought suddenly occurred to her: if Justin owed her a big favor, did that mean she could use it to ask for her son back?

So, she softened her tone and added, “It’s an honor to be of help to you.”

Justin stiffened slightly. “…”

He leaned against the wall of a hospital corridor, feeling good all over. It seemed like the first time he had spoken to her so amicably since they had met….

Surprisingly, he didn’t know how to respond.

Then, he heard her say, “Don’t hesitate to come to me whenever someone in your family-especially your son-falls ill, Mr. Hunt. I have a daughter myself, so I am very familiar with children’s illnesses. Also, whenever I see your son I feel a sense of kinship with him, so don’t ever be ashamed to come to me for help. You can come to me even if it’s just a little bout of flu, fever or malaise….. Do you understand me?”

By mentioning especially that he had a son and she had a daughter, was he trying to tell her that they both made a good couple? That they were both single but with a child?

The corners of her deep-set eyes turned upward again. The little brown beauty mark in the corner of her eye looked especially seductive as she said, “Thank you.”

The woman immediately replied, “Don’t be so formal with me. From now on, your son is my son too. I will take care of him as if he were my own.”

“…”

Listen to those shocking things she says!

Justin subtly changed the subject and asked, “I’ve heard that the news has been mistakenly spread that it was Mr. Myers who cured Grandma. Do you want the matter cleared up?”

She had thought about setting the record straight when her grandmother mentioned that she had recovered because of Tina. However, thinking that she didn’t like trouble, that she kept her identity a secret, and that she didn’t want it to come out, he had refrained from doing so.

No doubt he heard her say, “No, that’s okay. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

After hanging up, the woman’s wild, arrogant-though always sleepy-look surfaced in Justin’s mind and his smile widened.

At that moment, he hears a voice coming from behind him. “Mr. Hunt.”

Justin immediately stifled his smile. He turned to see his executive assistant, Sean Jenkins, standing respectfully. He wore a pair of glasses. Unlike the loquacious and scolding Lawrence, he was relatively low-key and reticent, and always got to the point when he spoke. He said, “Mr. Raymond has stepped down from his position as vice president of the company.”

Justin nodded. Before entering the room, he looked up at him suddenly. “Have you taken note of all the people who were collaborating with him today?”.

Sean replied, “Yes, I wrote them all down.”

Justin’s eyes were icy cold. To fight for power, his uncle had surely bribed a lot of people over the past few years. The reason he had allowed them to make a fuss outside the room this afternoon was just so he could score who was on his uncle’s side.

This time, he would get them all in one fell swoop.

Elsewhere.

Nora drove back to the Anderson’s house.

After getting out of the car, she stretched and walked into the living room.

As soon as she entered, she saw Sheena and Simon sitting on the couch with stern, serious expressions.

He was about to ask what had happened when Sheena suddenly stood up, picked up a cup of tea and threw it at him.

Tirsh!

The teacup shattered into pieces on the floor.

Nora’s expression instantly turned cold.

Sheena pointed at her and shouted, “What kind of medicine of unknown origin did you give your grandmother? After applying it to her, her eye area began to itch. She’s not young anymore. Are you trying to kill her?

There are a lot of things I still have to sort out, yet you are creating more problems for us. Why are there so many problems the moment you come back? You’re bad luck just like your mother.”

Then Melissa, who was supporting an unsteady Mrs. Anderson in the second floor hallway, interrupted. “Sheena! Mom told you to stop.”

However, Sheena responded, “Mom, you have to pay the price if you make a mistake! If we don’t discipline her right, what if she ends up behaving immorally like Sis?”

Mrs. Anderson, who was leaning on the railing for support, looked furious as she listened to her. A moment later, she shouted angrily, “Get out!”.

Sheena looked at Nora. “Did you hear that? He’s telling you to get out.”

The next moment, however .
